About DUSA

Daystar University Students Association (DUSA) is the student government whose aim is to initiate, develop and maintain a more effective and productive student life, and to enhance a healthy relationship between the administration, staff and students. A comprehensive account of the aims, membership, executive, standing committees and other matters related to the Association are contained in the DUSA Constitution.

Jurisdiction/Affiliation

Jurisdiction of the Association

The Association shall exercise its jurisdiction in both Nairobi and Athi River students and/or campuses.

Affiliation of the Association

The Association shall not be an affiliate to any political organisation within and without the University or Kenya, but may work or partner with such associations as clubs, unions and societies as shall be approved by the Congress

Objectives of the Association

The objectives of the Association are—

  1. to ensure and facilitate the social and physical welfare of the students;
  2. to promote spiritual growth in collaboration with the Daystar Christian Fellowship (DCF) and the Daystar Chaplaincy;
  3. to enhance academic development and intellectual growth;
  4. to facilitate communication between the students and the administration, the academic staff, and the non-teaching staff;
  5. to liaise with student movements and associations of other institutions of higher learning to promote academic excellence and influence spiritual growth and physical development within the student community bound by the vision and mission of Daystar University;
  6. to publish communications in which students shall give their views and thoughts and express their creativity;
  7. to participate in the relevant organs of the University as stipulated in the University Charter and Statutes;
  8. to organize and coordinate student activities throughout the year;
  9. to enhance positive attitudes in the community through participation in community service and all other related projects, which are in line with the University’s vision and mission; and
  10. to, generally, do all other things as may appear to be incidental or conducive to the attainment of any or all of the Association’s objectives.

Student leaders of the Association

Student leaders of the Association are the holders of offices of—

  1. The Congress;
  2. The Council;
  3. Any other office established under this Constitution; and
  4. Any other office as recommended by the Council and approved by the Congress.
